Trustees

Jo Moran (Chair)

Jo lived in Cricklade from 2003 to 2022, and her family are long-standing users of the leisure centre. Her two children, now grown up, learnt to swim there, and the centre holds many special family memories. Currently living in Brinkworth with her husband and cat while renovating their home, Jo plans to return to Cricklade as a resident in the future.

She was part of the original team that campaigned to save the centre in 2006 and has previously served as a trustee. Following the most recent AGM, Jo was appointed Chair of the Board, a role she is proud to hold as the centre enters its next phase.

Jo’s 39-year career in financial services included senior roles across administration, compliance, risk, and project management. Most recently, she spent five years as a Director at a FTSE 100 company, leading large regulatory operations teams. She brings extensive leadership experience and a strong track record in operational transformation.

Alongside this, Jo works as a menopause coach, supporting women and organisations to navigate hormonal change with confidence and clarity. She also oversees the operation of the Cricklade Foodbank, reflecting her strong commitment to community wellbeing and practical local support.

Jo is passionate about supporting the leisure centre as a vital community asset — promoting wellbeing, strengthening local connections, and creating employment opportunities, particularly for young people.

Dave Booth (Company Secretary)

Dave and his wife moved to Cricklade over 36 years ago and the fact that it had a Leisure Centre and pool was one of the main attractions for them. They used the LC regularly for squash, badminton, swimming and also as a social centre. Their 3 children all learned to swim at the LC.

Dave was one of the original group of local residents who saved the LC from closure, many years ago, and has been part of the Committee ever since. Dave is retired and uses the LC on an almost daily basis for table-tennis, badminton, pickleball, fitness classes, yoga and pilates. He can also occasionally be seen in the gym and pool.

Outside the LC, Dave loves cycling, walking, travelling and drinking beer. In a previous life, Dave was involved in the technical and technical management sides of developing specialist software for designing chips and electronic systems.

Depak Lal (Operations)

Depak and his wife moved to Cricklade 30 years ago. With an eye on the future, the leisure centre made Cricklade attractive as a family friendly place. Both of his daughters have subsequently benefited from having their first experience of the world of work at the leisure centre. He is a regular user of the gym, makes use of the spin classes and plays badminton, and on occasion he uses the pool.

Depak has been a part of the Leisure Centre committee since its inception in 2007 and one of the original Trustees. He is a firm believer in supporting the local community and applying his professional skills to improving local services which would otherwise not be provided by public service bodies. He uses this knowledge of utilities to look after the utilities side of the Leisure Centre operations and to provide strategic direction.

His day-job is centred on energy. He has been an energy market and management consultant for much of his life and he is now a civil servant working on the net zero agenda.

Nick Carter (Finance)

Nick moved to Cricklade nearly 40 years ago, and the centre was and still is a key focal point for he and his wife, his four kids and now seven grandchildren. All his family learned to swim at the centre, and several had their first jobs at the centre. Nick has been a leisure centre Trustee since the charity commenced running the facility in 2007, having been part of the original campaign to save the centre from closure.

Nick still plays for the badminton club albeit now the D team! and is a regular user of the gym. He is still passionate about developing the centre, and has looked after the finances of the centre ensuring long term sustainability in an environment, where the centre needs to survive and thrive within the income it brings in.

In his professional life, as an accountant, Nick still works full time in the healthcare environment, having been Finance Director at the old Princess Margaret Hospital. Nick was a key player in the development of the Great Western Hospital. As Nick approaches retirement, he is keen to ensure the centre continues to thrive, he will use it more and more, and eventually hand on the baton to the next enthusiastic accountant to look after the stewardship of the close to £1 million turnover we now achieve.

Alison Fisher (Marketing)

Alison has been part of the committee since moving to Cricklade in 2006 and  participated in saving the Leisure Centre from closure. Over the years, the family have used the centre regularly for gym, fitness classes, swimming lessons and in the last few years their daughter’s progression into playing Badminton for Wiltshire.

Alison is a Graphic Designer with over 20 years experience in Design and Marketing communications.  She is passionate about ensuring leisure stays in Cricklade and continues to be a valuable part of the community.

Roger Dunham (IT)

Roger moved to Cricklade over 30 years ago and was also was one of the original group of local residents who saved the Leisure Centre from closure over 17 years ago. He originally took over running the bar and supporting social events and quiz nights, where his music rounds were infamous. He has been part of the committee ever since.

Roger is now retired and along with his wife Shirley uses the gym and attends classes.

Outside the Leisure Centre  Roger loves playing and watching cricket, music, (playing the guitar badly!) walking with his dog and travelling around in his old VW T4 campervan. Roger spent many years in the RAF where his trade was looking after the Nimrod simulator computers and communications. After that his years of experience in the telecoms industry has been put to good use, ensuring the Leisure Centre IT infrastructure is constantly updated to the latest leisure industry cloud systems and software.

Nick Dye (Wiltshire County Councillor)

Nick helps with the leadership team and is a regular user since moving to Cricklade with his wife many years ago, with their two children who learned to swim here and getting their first jobs at the centre.

The work for the charity also involves linking with other organisations in the town/county to co-ordinate efforts so they resonate and amplify the work that so many people provide to the town.

Nick’s day job is as a business analyst to help organisations develop and realise their potential as they change and evolve, something very similar to the role he previously performed as the chair for C&DCA.

Phil Waller

Phil moved to Cricklade in 1986 and he and his family have been regular users of the Leisure Centre since then. In particular Phil was an active member of the squash club , played 5 a side football and ran several half marathons. He and his wife now use the Centre mainly for a range of keep fit classes.

Phil was part of the original group which campaigned for the retention of the Leisure Centre when it was threatened with closure. He strongly believes that the Centre is a significant asset for the town. He became a Trustee in 2024 and he would like to play his part in ensuring its continued success. Now retired, in his working life Phil was a Chartered Surveyor working mainly in the retail sector.
